The 9 member Super Karate Kids from the ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF KARATEDO (AAK) won (4) Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 8 Bronze Medals in the recently concluded 6TH KOREA OPEN INTERNATIONAL KARATEDO CHAMPIONSHIPS which was held at Busan, Korea last 18-20 June 2010.

AAK Team Philippines finished 2nd overall to host Team Malaysia in the 3rd Asian KOI Karate Championships 2009 held 03-06 December 2009 at the KLBA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Host Malaysia topped the competition with 8 Golds, 7 Silvers and 11 Bronzes to the AAK Team Philippines 6 Golds, 2 Silvers and 3 Bronzes. Korea with 6 Golds, 2 Silvers and 2 Bronzes finished third. The other Philippine Team consisting of selections from PKF clubs finished in 15th place. Over 270 athletes coming from 24 registered clubs competed in said event.

AAK karatekas won (2) Gold Medals in the 6TH WORLD SHITORYU KARATEDO CHAMPIONSHIPS which was held at Beijing, China last August 19-25, 2009.

Two AAK karatekas won three (3) Gold Medals in the 18th KOI KARATE WORLD CUP & TRAINING CAMP held 19-26 July 2009 at the Stadium Perpaduan in Sarawak, Malaysia. AAK TEAM PHILIPPINES sent ten (10) athletes to the said championships.

In keeping with the essence of true karate, AAK spread the holiday spirit of giving through AAK Cares: The AAK Annual Outreach Program, held last January 2, 2009.

The team from the ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF KARATEDO (AAK) bagged the over-all championships trophy after winning 18 golds, 8 silvers and 15 bronzes out of 35 events in the just concluded SPORTS MASTERS KARATEDO OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS held in Singapore last 06 September 2008. The tournament was participated in by 257 athletes from 17 clubs in 9 countries.

Team Philippines and Team Japan tied with 14 gold medals each in the just concluded Philippines - Japan Invitational Karatedo Championships hosted by the Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) held last 23-24 February at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia.

The Philippines has got what it takes to be world-class. A group of Filipino karatekas brought this to the fore anew today as they called on President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo following a successful stint abroad that brought honor and glory to the country. Feted by no less that the Chief Executive were members of the Philippine karate team that won two gold medals during the recent 5th World Shitoryu Karatedo Championships.

"Congratulations," the President told the Filipino karatekas on their triumph in the Sept. 16-18 tournament held at the Tokyo and Nippon Budokan hall in Tokyo, Japan.

We would like to congratulate AAK's newest Senior Blackbelters: Ana Tan (SPCP-AAK), Roschelle Bueno (SBC-AAK), Jopee Zapido (LSGH-AAK), Geric Anonas (Ateneo Karatedo Society), Kris Logronio (AAK Honbu Dojo - SM Megamall) and Paolo Mondelo (DLSZ-AAK).

Two AAK karatekas won two (2) Gold medals in the 5th World Shitoryu Karatedo Championships held at the Nippon Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan from 16-18 September 2006.

The AAK proved again that it remains a leader, in karate innovation throughout these years during the annual General Practice held last Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the St. Benilde Gym of La Salle Greenhills.

SM SUPERMALLS and AAK FITNESS SYSTEM have put up a memorandum of agreement that gives AAK the exclusive right to conduct KARATEDO classes at the nine (9) additional SM SUPERMALLS starting this summer of 2006. These venues are in addition to the honbu dojo of the ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF KARATEDO (AAK) located at AAK FITNESS SYSTEM, 5/F Bldg. B. SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

HARBOUR CENTER through MIKE ROMERO came to the aid of the RP Female Kata Team by sponsoring the training of the team with Japanese Karate Kata Master, HIDEHISA HASEME, 8th Dan. HASEME also fine tuned the kata of several Japanese competitors before they won in the World Karate Federation kata competition. Among them are the team kata multiple world champion HASEGAWA BROTHERs and current world female individual kata champion ATSUKO WAKAI.

Fresh from his winning in the PHILIPPINE KARATEDO FEDERATION national championships this year, GERARDO RODRIGO ANONAS joins 4 other Karateka in winning 5 Gold Medals in the recently concluded ASIAN KARATEDO INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT in Hongkong. Anonas, who won in the -60 kg kumite is an 18 year old Karateka from AAK ATENEO KARATE SOCIETY. The other gold medal winners are REVIE SANI of MSUKC Marawi City in the -70kg kumite event; veteran players MAE ESO SORIANO of SKI in the -48kg kumite event; MARNA PABILLORE of YDKA in the -53kg kumite event and NOEL ESPINOSA of JKA in the men’s individual kata.

STEPHANIE CAROL LIM of AAK ATENEO KARATE SOCIETY won the Silver Medal in the Women’s Individual Kata event via a controversial decision of the judges.

Karateka from the PHILIPPINE KARATEDO FEDERATION coached by SEA Games GOLD MEDALIST and PKF NATIONAL COACH JUAN CARLOS “CHINO” VEGUILLAS finished creditably at the just concluded 7th ASIAN KARATEDO FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIPS held in Macau.
