The Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) would like to welcome into its family and growing list of clubs AAK-St. Scholastica’s College of Manila. The club was established due to the increasing demand of students who studied in St. Scholastica’s College like Kata (Forms) and Kumite (Sparring) Champion Regina Mikka Velasquez Sempai and Perennial National Double Gold Medallist in both Kata and Kumite and 2002 World Cup Silver Medallist Raissa Mikaela Velasquez. The club is coached by 1997 World Cup Silver Medallist and 1993 South East Asian Games Gold Medallist Juan Carlos “Chino” Veguillas Sensei. Practices are held during Wednesdays 4 - 6 p.m. at the St. Methtileds room 3rd floor Grade School building.
Another club that AAK would like to welcome back into its fold is AAK La Salle
Greenhills (LSGH). One of the steadier clubs of the 70’s, 80’s and
early 90’s, AAK-LSGH has been a good source of talents and instructors.
AAK-LSGH Karatedo Club are coached by 2002 World Cup Gold Medallist and 2001
Asia Pacific Champion Rex Resurrecion Sensei of LSGH Batch ’92 and 1999
National Medallist Oliver Liwanag Sensei of LSGH Batch ’88. Practice schedule
during the school year is during Saturday’s 9:30-11:30 AM at the Father
Martinez Activity Center (FMAC).
Another AAK Club soon to open is AAK- Jose Rizal University
in Mandaluyong City in the summer of 2003.
At present AAK has clubs in Ateneo De Manila University, San
Sebastian College Recoletos, St. Paul College -Pasig, St. Benedict College Alabang,
De la Salle Zobel Alabang, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, SM City North EDSA
and Paramount Fitness Gym at the Centro Gym in Makati City. The Immaculate Conception
Academy also became a venue of Karate practice for the AAK last summer 2002.
