Posted on Wednesday, October 29 @ 15:17:16 SGT

The Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) would like to welcome into its family and growing list of clubs AAK-St. Scholastica’s College of Manila. The club was established due to the increasing demand of students who studied in St. Scholastica’s College like Kata (Forms) and Kumite (Sparring) Champion Regina Mikka Velasquez Sempai and Perennial National Double Gold Medallist in both Kata and Kumite and 2002 World Cup Silver Medallist Raissa Mikaela Velasquez. The club is coached by 1997 World Cup Silver Medallist and 1993 South East Asian Games Gold Medallist Juan Carlos “Chino” Veguillas Sensei. Practices are held during Wednesdays 4 - 6 p.m. at the St. Methtileds room 3rd floor Grade School building.

Another club that AAK would like to welcome back into its fold is AAK La Salle Greenhills (LSGH). One of the steadier clubs of the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s, AAK-LSGH has been a good source of talents and instructors. AAK-LSGH Karatedo Club are coached by 2002 World Cup Gold Medallist and 2001 Asia Pacific Champion Rex Resurrecion Sensei of LSGH Batch ’92 and 1999 National Medallist Oliver Liwanag Sensei of LSGH Batch ’88. Practice schedule during the school year is during Saturday’s 9:30-11:30 AM at the Father Martinez Activity Center (FMAC).

Another AAK Club soon to open is AAK- Jose Rizal University in Mandaluyong City in the summer of 2003.

At present AAK has clubs in Ateneo De Manila University, San Sebastian College Recoletos, St. Paul College -Pasig, St. Benedict College Alabang, De la Salle Zobel Alabang, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, SM City North EDSA and Paramount Fitness Gym at the Centro Gym in Makati City.
