The Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) held
last May 26, 2002 its annual General Practice at the Moro Lorenzo Gym of the
Ateneo de Manila University. Once again students from all AAK branches gathered
together to train under one gym. The General Practice was a complete success
having an attendance of over 400 karatekas training under one roof.
AAK-Clubs present were AAK SM Megamall, AAK SM North EDSA, AAK De La Salle Zobel
in Alabang, AAK St. Benedict College in Alabang, AAK Paramount Gym in Makati
City, AAK San Sebastian College, AAK St Paul’s College Pasig and host

club AAK St. Scholastica’s College Manila and reestablished club AAK La
Salle Greenhills.
At the practice students got the opportunity to learn under different instructors
and showed their parents and friends what they have been learning in AAK. A
demonstration of basic defenses was done by the brownbelters of AAK and a kata
performance of the Germany bound Kata Teams who will compete in the 11th Kobe-Osaka
International Karate World Cup.
Recognitions were also given to AAK athletes who won in the 3rd Goju Kai World
Karatedo Championships in Perth, Australia last 30 November to 2 December 2001
and 9th Asia Pacific Shito Ryu Karatedo Championships held in Singapore last
1 December 2001.
The General practice ended with the AAK-Parents and Supporters
Association (AAK-PSA) raffling off prizes that included a 24-inch Color TV.
Proceeds of the raffle went to the AAK-PSA fund which supports deserving AAK
athletes who compete abroad to represent both AAK and country.
