AAK karatekas won (2) Gold Medals in the 6TH WORLD SHITORYU KARATEDO CHAMPIONSHIPS which was held at Beijing, China last August 19-25, 2009.
AAK TEAM PHILIPPINES sent six (6) athletes to the said championships.
Eight year old JOSE RAPHAEL S. HABALO, a Grade 3 student from Xavier School practicing at AAK SM Megamall Honbu Dojo won the Gold Medal in the 8 year old Boys Kumite event which was dominated by Russian players.
The other Gold medal was won by ALISA KARMINA V. CIFRA, a Sophomore student and varsity player of De La Salle Zobel School in the 13-14 year old Girls Kumite.
ALISA KARMINA V. CIFRA was also the Gold Medalist in her age division in the last 5TH WORLD SHITORYU KARATEDO CHAMPIONSHIPS which was held at Nippon Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan last September 2006.
VEN LAURENCE C. SILANGIL, Grade 4 student from Colegio de San Lorenzo practicing at AAK SM Megamall Honbu Dojo won the Bronze medal in the 9-10 year old Kumite.
More than 1000 athletes from all over the world participated in the championships which was held simultaneously in 4 competition mat areas.
The AAK TEAM PHILIPPINES Delegation was headed by RICHARD ANTHONY LIM and JOSEFINA VEGUILLAS.
All of the AAK Karateka medalists are consistent winners in the MILO Super Karate Kids @ SM Supermalls Championships sponsored by Nestlè MILO.
